Its time to for us all to discover the benefits that can be received by adding sprouts to the diet. Spouts are seeds that have germinated to become nutritional super foods that contain all the elements a plant needs for life and growth. The most common sprouts are alfalfa, broccoli, radish and mung bean. Sprouts are cheap and easy to grow. The Seeds sprout after 3 to 7 days depending on the conditions and kind of seeds being used.

It is estimated that there are up to one hundred times more beneficial enzymes in sprouts than in raw vegetables. Enzymes are an important part of the digestive process. They increase the absorption of nutrients by the digestive tract and protect against chemical carcinogens. Furthermore, the dietary fiber found in sprouts stimulates gastric juices, which aid in breaking down of food efficiently and bulks up the stool, making it easier to pass through the digestive tract.

Sprouts are one of those foods that are very high in nutrients and very low in calories. They contain a significant amount of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and dietary fiber. In terms of minerals, they contain manganese, copper , zinc, magnesium, iron and calcium. Sprouts are also great for people who are gluten intolerant.
