Why We Love Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is a quick and easy way to detoxify your body from the inside out. It involves using a natural bristle brush and gently moving it along the skin. Dry brushing exfoliates the skin clearing oil, dirt, and residue from the pores making them much less noticeable and it can help lessen the appearance of sun damage. The result is increased cell turnover and more radiant, smooth skin.

Our Lymphatic System is directly related to our Immune System. Keeping toxins and pathogens sitting in our lymphatic fluid will increase our chances of sickness or disease. Dry brushing will help move the fluid around causing these pathogens to be weakened by our White Blood Cells and Lymph Nodes.

Dry brushing the skin regularly also helps the body eliminate toxins that can accumulate in the fat layer. Over time the build up of toxins can lead to inflammation and ultimately more pronounced cellulite. The appearance of cellulite may be less noticeable after dry brushing, due to the plumping effect it has on the skin.

To dry brush properly, first make sure your skin is completely dry. The best time is right before you shower. Begin at your feet and work your way up, overlapping as you go. Maintain a slightly firm pressure and make small circular motions that are always moving towards your heart. It is not recommended to use the stiffer body brush on the face so use a smaller, gentler dry brush. To prevent bacteria, mildew or mold from growing on your brushes, make sure you wash them with soap and water at least once a week and leave them in the sun or a warm spot to dry.
